Update: Teen admits to making false report in home invasion case

A 17-year-old Ashburn female who reported Oct. 10 that she was a victim of a home invasion has admitted she made a false report.

The victim called authorities to her home in the 43230 block of Brookford Square around 10:30 a.m. The teenager said that two unknown male suspects entered the home and implied they had a firearm.

Sheriff Deputies canvassed the area and began an investigation into the incident. Nearby schools were briefly placed on lockdown due to their proximity to the residence.

Late this afternoon the female told investigators the incident never occurred.

Investigators will review the case with the Office of the Commonwealth's Attorney to determine if the teenager will be charged with filing a false police report.
