Strug in Sterling
Gold-medal gymnast Kerri Strug will appear at Northern Virginia Gymnastics Academy in Sterling Aug. 7. Strug will oversee a camp and is scheduled to speak at 3:15 p.m. before a photograph and autograph session that is open to the public.

Top lifeguards
The Ida Lee lifeguarding team won the Virginia Parks and Recreation Society’s Lifeguarding Cup for the second year in a row July 12, surpassing 11 other contenders from around the commonwealth.
Teams competed in six events, including a rescue tube relay and a synchronized swimming skit. The Ida Lee team consisted of Brian Markley, Lauren Gladish, Amy Johnson, Kempsy Clark, Sean Burrows and John Sugden.
