Jonathan Hensley
Leesburg native Jonathan Hensley has been named President of Regence BlueShield in Washington and its eastern Washington subsidiary, Asuris Northwest Health. Regence is the largest not-for-profit health insurer in the Northwest/Intermountain Region.
Hensley is recognized as an established leader in the health care field, with 25 years of experience. He was Vice President of Sales for Regence BlueShield and Asuris Northwest Health for three years before he left to join United. Prior to that, he held leadership positions with several regional and national health care companies, including CIGNA and Premera.
Melissa Simms
Melissa Simms has been has promoted to vice president at BB&T in Purcellville.
Simms, who joined the bank in 1988, is a financial center manager and loan officer at BB&T’s 120 N. Maple Ave. office.
Emily Walker
Emily Walker has been promoted to senior account representative at Unity Business Systems, a marketing printing business in Leesburg.
Walker has been with the company for more than six years in the capacity of customer service and finance. She brings to her new position a diverse knowledge of the printing industry that will enable her to be very effective in maintaining quality customer service.
Walker is one of several upcoming promotions and additions of quality team members at UBS because of its transition from a commercial printing company to a full-service business-development and marketing firm.
Clark Ragsdale
Clark Ragsdale, a professional landscaper with Green Scapes by Design in Leesburg, recently became a member of PLANET, Professional Landcare Network.
The association provides ongoing educational and safety programs and features a national certification program that ensures that PLANET members have the knowledge and technical expertise necessary to perform their jobs at the highest standards.
Lisa Kimball
Lisa Kimball has been promoted to vice president of Defense Manpower Data Center Operations for Ashburn-based Telos affiliate Telos Identity Management Solutions LLC. In her new position, Kimball directs all aspects of DMDC programs’ operational policies, objectives and initiatives.
With a rich background in government program management and technology, Kimball oversees key projects focused on identity access and control.
Kimball is a certified project management professional and has received an additional certification as a SEI-CMM V1.1 SCE evaluator from the Software Engineering Institute.
Adam Briggs
Adam Briggs recently earned the designation of Project Management Professional from the Project Management Institute, the world’s leading authority for the project management profession.
Briggs has been a project manager and business development executive for Dulles-based SkyLink USA for the past two years. He’s responsible for procuring and managing ad-hoc and long-term freight forwarding and airlift support programs for commercial clients, governments and international nongovernmental agencies.
To obtain Project Management Professional certification, an individual must satisfy education and experience requirements, agree to adhere to a professional code of conduct and pass the certification examination. The PMP designation following a person’s name demonstrates to employers and other stakeholders that an individual possesses a solid foundation of experience and education in project management.
Christopher Carey, executive chef at The Goodstone Inn & Estate in Middleburg, was invited by The James Beard Foundation to cook dinner at the storied James Beard House in Manhattan. The dinner was held August 4.
Carey's five-course dinner, featured exceptional Virginia cuisine and fine wines.
"I [was] so pleased to be invited to cook at the James Beard House,” Carey said. “It is a high honor to do so and to be a part of the pantheon of chefs who have cooked at this celebrated place.”
The James Beard House was home to the Dean of American Cookery, James Beard, from 1976 until his passing at 81 in 1985. Beard, who established cooking schools and published over 20 important cookbooks, many of which are still in print, left a legacy of culinary excellence and integrity to generations of home cooks and professional chefs.
