The following is a list of upcoming productions and auditions in the Loudoun-Fairfax area.


Productions

'Anne of Green Gables': The Leesburg Theatre Co. will be performing “Anne of Green Gables” Aug. 9-17 for the 100th anniversary of the book's publication.

Performances will be in the theater of Crossroads Baptist Church, 850 Edwards Ferry Road in Leesburg. Show dates are Aug. 9 at 8 p.m., Aug. 10 at 2 p.m., Aug. 16 at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m., and Aug. 17 at 2 p.m.

Tickets are $7 for children and seniors; $8 for adults.

'Tick..Tick..Boom.' The Elden Street Players present Jonathan Larson's 'Tick..Tick..Boom” through Aug. 23 at The Industrial Strength Theater, 209 Sunset Park Drive in Herndon. This is a pop/rock musical that tells of a young composer approaching his 30th birthday. His girlfriend wants to get married, leave the city and move to Cape Cod. His best friend is making big bucks on Madison Avenue and wants Jon to join corporate America; but Jon is still waiting tables while trying to write the great American musical before time and life pass him by. Performances are at 8 p.m. Aug. 8-9, Aug. 14-16 and Aug. 21-21; at 3 p.m. Aug. 10; and 7 p.m. Aug. 17. Tickets are $22 general admission adults and $19 for senior citizens and students. 'Oklahoma': The Sterling Playmakers will present Rodgers and Hammerstein's “Oklahoma!” through Aug. 10 at Potomac Falls High School in Sterling. Friday and Saturday performances are at 8 p.m. with Sunday matinees at 2 p.m.

Auditions


Youth orchestra conductor: The DDE_LINKLoudoun Symphony Association DDE_LINK has an opening for the position of youth orchestra and string workshop conductor for the 2008-09 concert season.

The ideal candidate will have youth orchestra experience and lead both groups beginning in the fall.

The youth orchestra meets Wednesdays, 5-6:30 p.m.; and the string workshop meets Wednesdays, 7-7:30 p.m.

Duties include conducting all rehearsals and concerts, acting as librarian for each group, coordinating parent volunteers and managers, holding auditions, and establishing a relationship with the music educators of the community.

The salary is $5,000.

Master Singers: The Master Singers of Virginia, directed by Erik Reid Jones, are looking for new members.

The group is one of the premier a cappella choral ensembles in Northern Virginia, concentrating on 20th- and 21st-century choral music. The Master Singers perform three major concert programs each season, as well as other engagements throughout Northern Virginia and the greater Washington, D.C., area. This will be the Master Singers' 14th season.

The concert series scheduled for this season includes Benjamin Britten's "A Boy Was Born," Francis Poulenc's "Mass in G Major," William Byrd's "Mass for Five Voices," and Shakespeare songs by Ralph Vaughan Williams, Frank Martin and Jaakko Mantyjarvi.
