By Jeanette Gandhi

Brambleton: The Brambleton Summer Concerts series features Jah Works (reggae) Aug. 7, 7-9 p.m., at the Brambleton Town Center. For more information, visit www.brambleton.com.

Lansdowne: Double Digit comes to Lansdowne Resort's Jazz on the Potomac series this Friday evening, Aug. 8. The fun begins at 6 p.m. and continues until 10 p.m. Sit back, relax and unwind to the sounds of smooth jazz while enjoying a view of the Potomac River. Lansdowne's culinary team prepares summer foods and drinks. For more information, visit www.lansdowneresort.com.

Democrats' office: The Virginia Coordinated Campaign of the Democratic party had a grand opening for its Ashburn campaign office last Saturday. Judy Feder was a special guest and speaker; Mark Herring and Dave Poisson were also in attendance and gave brief speeches. Volunteers went out canvassing and then met back at the headquarters for a barbecue. The office is located in the Ashbrook Commons office park and is working on the Obama, Warner and Feder campaigns.

Youth orchestra: It may be a little early for these two items, but it gives you plenty of time to get prepared. The Loudoun Youth Symphony will hold auditions Sept. 6-7 at Loudoun Country Day School. Participation in the orchestra is through audition and is open to all string, woodwind, brass and percussion players between the ages of 10 and 18 with a minimum of three years of private instruction or who have participated in a school band or orchestra program for three years. For auditions, students must provide their own instruments and must play scales with up to four flats and four sharps, two or three octaves. They will also play a prepared piece and perform sight reading. Tuition is $300 per student per year and is payable in two installments in September and January. For more information or to arrange an audition, e-mail youthaudition@loudounsymphony.org or call Heather Coffey at 703-779-9925.

Loudoun Chorale: The Loudoun Chorale will begin rehearsals for its 2008-2009 season on Aug. 24 and is inviting new members to join them. The chorale rehearses regularly on Sunday evenings, 6-8 p.m., at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 605 W. Market St., Leesburg. The Aug. 24 rehearsal will begin at 5:30 p.m. to give new members time to get acquainted with chorale members. The chorale will perform Oct. 24 at the Waterford Fair, and its annual Christmas concert will be Dec. 13-14, with John Rutter's "Gloria" slated to be the highlight. The annual membership fee is $50; $75 for couples. The music fee will be approximately $21. For more information, visit www.loudounchorale.org or call 703-722-4055.
