Home prices drop

The median sale price for a home in Loudoun last month dipped below $400,000 for the first time since October 2004, according to new data from the Dulles Area Association of Realtors. The median price was $370,000 in January, down 10 percent from December and 12 percent from last January.

Also, only 216 homes sold in Loudoun last month, the lowest amount this decade.

Air travel up at Dulles

Dulles International Airport saw an upturn in usage, as 24.7 million travelers passed through its gates in 2007, the second highest number this decade, officials said. The amount was more than 7 percent higher than 2006, when 23 million flew and out of Dulles. The airport's busiest year since 2000 was 2005, when 27 million passengers traveled through Dulles.

In comparison, Ronald Reagan-Washington National Airport saw 18.7 million travelers last year.

Parks and recreation

The Loudoun County Department of Parks, Recreation and Community Services will hold a public input session on Feb. 13 at 7 p.m. at the Carver Center in Purcellville. At the meeting, residents will be able to give suggestions on the department’s strategic plan and major objectives currently under development.

Supervisors meeting

Since county offices will be closed for Presidents' Day, there will be no public input session in front of the Board of Supervisors on Monday. Instead, residents can make comment to supervisors during their business meeting on Feb. 19. The meeting begins at 9 a.m. in the board room of the Loudoun County Government Center, 1 Harrison St. S.E., Leesburg.

Appointments

Martha Polkey, of Leesburg, was appointed to Virginia Sheep Industry Board, while Nan Marguerite Joseph-Forbes, an attorney from Purcellville, was appointed to the state's Interagency Civil Admissions Advisory Council, Gov. Tim Kaine's office announced Feb. 8.
