Supervisors to hold meeting in Sterling Park

The Board of Supervisors will meet at Park View High School at 6:30 p.m. July 22 to discuss a host of issues related to eastern Loudoun.

During the meeting, supervisors will hear a report on a series of community meetings that took place this spring where residents opined on how the county can improve the quality of life in Loudoun's Sterling and Potomac districts, which include Sterling Park, Sugarland Run, Cascades and CountrySide.

The public is encouraged to attend the meeting.

Open house

Residents are invited to attend an open house at Good Shepherd Alliance's new headquarters in Old Ashburn.

The July 11 event will be between 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. The facility, called the Center of Hope, is at 20684 Ashburn Road. A tour of the site will take about 20 minutes.

Contact Vicki Koth at 703-724-1555 for more information.

An official dedication will be July 15 at 10 a.m. The public is welcome to attend that event as well.

Good Shepherd Alliance is a nonprofit that assists Loudoun's homeless.

Membership spike

The Loudoun County Republican Committee announced July 7 that it saw a 40 percent increase in membership over the last three months, bringing its membership to 213. At this rate, committee leadership said, the committee is on target to double membership before the next election.

"This November 4th will be a good day for Republicans in Loudoun County," promised committee chairman Glen Caroline in a statement, "no matter what the conventional wisdom is saying today.”

Previous reports have said that traditionally Republican-leaning Loudoun may be becoming more Democratic.
