Loudoun fifth in nation for growth
A new report by the U.S. Census Bureau proves what people in Loudoun already know -- Loudoun has grown a great deal this decade.
According to new population estimates, Loudoun, at a growth rate of 64.4 percent, was the fifth fastest-growing county in the nation between 2000 to 2007 of counties with at least 10,000 residents.
The counties that placed ahead of Loudoun were Kendall, Ill.; Flagler, Fla.; Rockwall, Texas; and Pinal, Ariz.
For growth leaders between July 2006 and July 2007, Loudoun, however, placed 35th in the country at a rate of growth of 4.9 percent.
With Katrina victims still returning home, two parishes in New Orleans were the top growers in the nation over that same span.
The Census Bureau estimates Loudoun's population at 278,797.
