Procurement forum

The Loudoun County Chamber of Commerce holds its Second Annual Business Opportunity Procurement Forum at the National Conference Center from 7:30 to 11:30 a.m.

The event will offer small businesses a venue to connect with the county's large business procurement officials. There will be large business and government agencies, panel discussions, workshops and a keynote address by U.S. Rep. Frank Wolf (R-10th).

Registration is required; visit www.loudounchamber.org. Price is $40 for Chamber members and $60 for nonmembers.

 

Import/export seminar

Loudoun Small Business Development Center is hosting a seminar on “Basics of Importing & Exporting by Small Businesses” from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Thomas Balch Library, 208 W. Market St., Leesburg.

If you want to buy or sell raw materials or finished products outside the United States, you will need to know about import/export processes. Three experts will offer basic information on exporting and export licensing requirements; import requirements, including Other Government Agency (OGA) requirements; duty payments; shopping for and using a customs broker/freight forwarder; and importing/exporting without the use of a broker.

Start your business

Loudoun Small Business Development Center will hold a seminar on starting a business at the Cascades Library, 21030 Whitfield Place, Sterling, from 6 to 8 p.m.

Small business specialist Debi Roder will speak about essential steps for starting a business.

Insurance specialist Terry Corle will give 21 marketing tips and talk about insurance needs. And Robin Suomi, a small business specialist, will lead participants through the essential steps for successfully starting a small business.

Nonprofit Initiative

The Loudoun County Chamber of Commerce will hold its second Nonprofit Initiative, “Expert Advice to Improve Performance,” from 8 to 11 a.m. at the Loudoun County Public School Administration building.

There will be a panel presentation with representatives from Leadership Loudoun, Loudoun Volunteer Services and the Northern Virginia & Piedmont Community. Following the presentation will be small group roundtables to discuss management, finance, communication and other topics.

Golf Tournament

The Loudoun County Chamber of Commerce invites the community to join in its Small Business Golf Tournament from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Raspberry Falls Golf & Hunt Club.

Price is $125 per player for 18 holes of golf, green fees, open range, barbecue lunch and door prizes.
