On Stage

The following is a list of upcoming productions and auditions in Loudoun: 'Seussical! Jr.' The Mission Players of the Lopez Youth Performing Arts Company bring to the stage a Broadway Junior production of "Seussical!" at the Waddell Theater, 1000 Harry Byrd Highway in Sterling. Showtimes are May 16 at 7 p.m., and May 17 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.

“Seussical! Jr." is a story of friendship and faithfulness, tying together myriad beloved characters from the world of Dr. Seuss. When Horton the elephant hears a desperate cry for help echoing from the tiny world of Who, little does he know that this will catapult him into a journey the likes of which he's never known. Can he convince his tormentors that the Whos really do exist in time to save a whole world?

“Seussical! Jr." features 20 local children ages 6 to 17, directed and choreographed by Jennifer Kessler.

Tickets are $15 in advance, $20 at the door. Call LYPAC at 703-787-0071 or visit DDE_LINKwww.lopezstudios.org/lytc.html DDE_LINK for more information.

Auditions

'bare': The newly combined theatrical forces of College Community Theater and 2nd Flight Productions will hold auditions for the musical "bare" Monday, May 19, and Tuesday, May 20, at 7:30 p.m., with callbacks Wednesday, May 21, at 7 p.m.

Set in a Catholic boarding school, this show centers on a group of friends during their senior year. Roommates Jason and Peter have been closet lovers for years, but now Peter wants to come out, despite Jason's apprehensions. Sex, love and lies tangle things even further. The director is Debbie Niezgoda.

Audition will be in the theater in the Waddell Building on the Loudoun Campus of Northern Virginia Community College, 1000 Harry Byrd Highway in Sterling.

Those auditioning should prepare a 30-second to one-minute monologue, an up-tempo rock song, a list of all conflicts between May and September, and dance-comfortable clothes for callbacks.

The Master Singers perform three major concert programs each season, as well as other engagements throughout Northern Virginia and the greater Washington, D.C., area. This will be the Master Singers' 14th season.

Their concert series scheduled for this season includes Benjamin Britten's "A Boy Was Born," Francis Poulenc's "Mass in G Major," William Byrd's "Mass for Five Voices," and Shakespeare songs by Ralph Vaughan Williams, Frank Martin and Jaakko Mantyjarvi.
