On Exhibit
Art galleries and exhibits are found throughout Loudoun. Here is a rundown of what is showing where and for how long.Hanna photo exhibits: Aerial photographer Jim Hanna, of western Loudoun, is having two exhibits in the coming months.
The first is “Rural Culture on the Edge,” a photo essay of 23 images. The exhibit is on display through August on the first-floor gallery at the Loudoun campus of George Washington University, 44983 Knoll Square, Ashburn. The show is hosted in partnership with Gallery 222 of the Loudoun Academy of the Arts Foundation.
Hanna's second exhibit is “Flying Over Loudoun,” at Washington Dulles International Airport through Aug. 26. This exhibit is coordinated by the Washington Metropolitan Airport Authority and Gallery 222. The exhibit is installed in the area beyond the security checkpoints in the main terminal on the arrivals level.

The Museum of Hounds and Hunting North America announces that the Beresford Gallery of Unionville, Pa., will present the 2008 Sporting Art Show and Sale in the historic Coach House at Morven Park over Memorial Day weekend.
The hours will be Friday, May 23, noon-6 p.m.; Saturday, May 24, 11 a.m.-4 p.m.; and Sunday, May 25, 11 a.m.-5 p.m.
The roster includes Beverly Wende, Juli Kirk, Nancy Pellett, Larry Wheeler, Richard Hubbard, Peggy Kauffman, Linda Luster, Beth Carlson, sculptor J. Clayton Bright and wrought-iron artist Eric Zanotti.

Balch Library: The Balch Library, 208 W. Market St., Leesburg, is exhibiting several reproductions of Sherry Zvares Sanabria's paintings from the series "Slave Quarters and Other African-American Sites" through May 31.
The works illustrate the living spaces of African Americans at the time of slavery as well as the Jim Crow era.

Franklin Park Arts Center: The Franklin Park Arts Center is hosting a "Flora and Fauna Art Show: A Celebration of Spring" 9 a.m.-5 p.m. weekdays through May 30.
The center is at 36441 Blueridge View Lane in Purcellville.
The show features local artists' works in watercolor, oil, pastel and mixed media as well as three-dimensional works.

Gallery 222: Gallery 222 and the Loudoun Academy of the Arts are hosting a summer art show and sale June 6 to July 26 at the gallery at 222 S. King St. in Leesburg. An opening reception will be Friday, June 6, 6-9 p.m.
The show includes works by Trisha Adams, Conor Backman, Michael Beckner, Dasher Chagnaa, Sandra Ehrenkranz, Joan Gardiner, Carmen Howell, Dell Keathley, Brian Kirk, Tia Maggio, Alfred McAdams, Sarita Moffat, David Norton, John Raymond, Sherry Sanabria, Elissa Savos, Kurt Schwarz, Maggie Siner, Antonia Walker and Dan Williams.

National Sporting Library: "Pierre-Jules Mene Sporting Bronzes From the Collection of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Mellon at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts" will be on exhibit June 6-Aug. 23 at the National Sporting Library's Forrest E. Mars Sr. Exhibit Hall, 102 The Plains Road in Middleburg.
The exhibit is free. The library's hours are Tuesday-Friday, 10 a.m.-4 p.m., and Saturday, 1-4 p.m.
One of the foremost animaliers of his day, Mene (1810-1879) was best known for his naturalistic and engaging small sculptures of animals and sporting scenes. His works represent a gentle and emotive view of the natural world, a perspective that distinguishes Mene from the passion-filled and sometimes violent Romanticism of contemporary Antoine-Louis Barye's (1796-1875) animal sculptures.
