Loudoun volunteer wins Chaplain of the Year award

A chaplain who volunteers with Loudoun County Fire-Rescue recently was named Northern Virginia Chaplain of the Year by Industrial and Commercial Ministries.

Chaplain Gary Myers was recognized as the Public Safety Sector award winner during a banquet at the end of September, Loudoun County Fire-Rescue spokesman Dustin Sternbeck said.

The Rev. Myers volunteers for Loudoun County Fire-Rescue Station 6 in Ashburn.

In his role as chaplain, he has ministered to several volunteer and career staff members, Sternbeck said.

“Chaplain Myers regularly responds to emergency incidents to assist the first responders and citizens of Loudoun,” Sternbeck said. “Always willing to minister, Chaplain Myers exemplifies professionalism and dedication as a chaplain.”
