Falconry program: The National Sporting Library will host a children’s program, “Falconry: An Introduction to a Royal Sport,” Saturday, Nov. 1, at 2 p.m.
Barbara duPont and her fellow falconers -- Lee Chichester, Bill Harry, Brian Cullen, Ray Martin, John Foley, Ava King and Andrew King – will talk about sport and the many kinds of birds and equipment used. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet various kinds of raptors. A flying demonstration will follow at nearby Hill School.
Recommended reading for the event is Jean Craighead George’s award-winning novel for young adults, “My Side of the Mountain.”
The program is recommended for children 10 and older. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Participation is limited to 50 people.
