Start your business

Loudoun Small Business Development Center will hold a seminar on starting a business at Thomas Balch Library, 208 West Market St., Leesburg, from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Small business specialists Robin Suomi and marketing and insurance specialist Nelly Pike will speak. Highlights of the seminar will include taxes; licensing; accounting and record keeping; business plan development; sources of financing; marketing; and insurance.

Autumn Auto Day

Virginia Tire and Auto of Ashburn, formerly Ashburn Goodyear, is hosting an “Autumn Auto Day” from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. There will be car care education forums, giveaways and drawings -- including the chance to win four free tires.

Developing a business plan

Loudoun Small Business Devlopment Center will host a seminar, “Developing a Business Plan” from 11:00 a.m.-1:30 p.m. at the Thomas Balch Library, 208 West Market Street, Leesburg, VA.

Banker Norman Hecht has evaluated business plans throughout his long career in commercial banking and will help attendees to research and write a stand out business plan -- one with an effective format, persuasive answers to crucial questions, and pertinent financial data.

Buyer/seller info exchange

Business with the county

Learn how to do business with Loudoun County. All local area vendors are invited to attend Loudoun County Procurement's 2008 Buyer/Seller Information Exchange Session starting at 10:30 a.m. in the Lovettsville Room on the 1st floor of the Loudoun County Government Center, 1 Harrison Street S.E., Leesburg.

Sessions provide information on the county’s procurement processes and upcoming contracts. Each presentation will conclude with the opportunity to address vendor questions and concerns and to meet the county's procurement staff. Representatives of area businesses are invited to attend free of charge.

Other session will be held on the following dates: Nov. 20 at 2:00 p.m. and Dec. 18 at 2:00 p.m.
