Loudoun homes sales up, prices down

It was a case of good news, bad news for Loudoun home sellers last month.

Loudoun's median home price dropped 25 percent in September from a year earlier to $320,000, according to new data from the Dulles Area Association of Realtors.

Home prices are also down 34 percent from the housing boom of 2005 and are at their lowest point since November 2003.

On the good news front, the number of homes that sold last month in the county rose 57 percent from last September. Meanwhile, the average length of time homes sat on the market before they did sell was 97 days, down from 111 a year ago, according to the same data.
