The Falcons challenged the second-place Pride Oct. 14 by winning the first two games, but could not clinch the Dulles District match on their own home court.

Heritage came from behind to win the third game, then held off Briar Woods in the fourth and fifth to claim a tough 23-25, 22-25, 25-21, 25-22 and 15-9 match victory.

Ashley Scott and Emma LeMaitre paced the Pride (10-1 in the district, 15-1 overall) with 20 and 18 kills respectively, while each helped defensively with 10 digs apiece. Libero Megan Beckwith led with 25 digs. Stephanie Yokoyama set up 51 assists.

For the Falcons (6-5, 10-5), Krysta Gardner and Kim Bell supplied 18 and 16 kills respectively, helped by Caitlin Ronan's 43 assists. Bailey Jensen contributed an all-around performance with seven kills, four digs, five blocks and four service aces.
