Three wounded in Sterling Park drive-by shooting

A 19-year-old, 20-year-old and a 21-year-old were shot in Sterling Park Sept. 17 -- the third violent crime in Sterling Park in less than a week.

Police say the three latest victims were standing near the intersection of East Poplar Road and South Buckingham Court shortly before 9 p.m. when a vehicle passed by them.

A little while later, the vehicle returned, and shots were fired from it, hitting the three victims, Loudoun County Sheriff's Office spokesman Kraig Troxell said.

Several people called 911 when they heard the shots fired.

All three victims were taken to Inova Fairfax Hospital, Troxell said.

The vehicle that the shots were fired from is described as being dark in color, possibly green or teal, Troxell said.

After the shootings, investigators conducted a door-to-door canvass around the area in search of leads, Troxell said.

There is no word yet on whether they found any suspects.

"We must put a stop to this violence," Supervisor Eugene Delgaudio (R-Sterling) said in an e-mail Sept. 18. "For the last seven days, helicopters arrive every other day to either search for criminals or to pick up shooting victims."

Delgaudio was referring to the violent week Sterling Park residents have seen.

On Sept. 12 through Sept. 14, two people were shot and one was stabbed in two separate incidents.

"Sterling can and must be restored," Delgaudio said.

Anyone with information about the latest shooting is asked to call the Sheriff’s Office at 703-777-0475. Those who wish to remain anonymous can call Loudoun Crime Solvers at 703-777-1919.

Anyone with information leading to an arrest and indictment could be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.

And we don't have gangs in Loudoun County! Wake up! Crime is out of control. Is this a place we want to raise our children???? NO...it is time something gets done. I have been in Sterling Park for 35 years and over the years it has gotten so bad. Everyone "talks" about doing something... but what has been done?

Nice to know that Troxell is lying. I live 50 ft. from where this drive-by happened; I even called 911 within 30 seconds of the incident, and yet I have not been contacted by the police either in person or by phone (even though I didn't see anything). Ridiculous; what do we pay these guys for, to catch normal citizens going down Sterling Blvd doing 45mph?!?

And yet the Board of Supervisors sits on their respective tushes and behaves like the three monkeys (see, hear, speak no evil of the illegal alien invaders).

ALL of the violent crime over the last several weeks has involved the illegal alien invaders.

WHEN IS THE BOARD GOING TO HELP SAVE STERLING AND LOUDOUN COUNTY?

How do you know they were illegal aliens? Did you go ask for passports while they were bleeding in the street? Not every person that doesn't look or speak like you do is illegal. Many are here quite legally, possibly like your own ancestors.

Want to know why there is animosity in the Park - examine yourself.

I think Police Bike / Foot Patrols would help
We need more Officers on the Streets in the infested areas. Radio for the Crown Vics & Dogs ECT when needed. How about making a law you have to have a front and tail light on your bike at night & bikes would require a licenses & helmet. ie Lights are required 1 hour before and after sun rise set. Violators would be required to pay fine & attend a bike safety class. This would help get rid of some of the night roaches. None one of them would get any type of lights or licenses or safety gear. Then the officers could stop them all & I hope give them a bunch of crap, break out ID ect let them know whos in charge at ALL TIMES Enforce jay waking open the door to these street punks. Tell them they have the rights to a A** whipping let them pick between old fashion or tazed
Do it like PG county whip there tails & make sure they get billed for the ems service.

I think gary20147 should be in charge of our police force. I see people walking the streets and on bikes 2,3, 4a.m. in the morning. People looking for trouble. Why is our police force ignoring this? I am sick of hearing about illegal aliens in Sterling and so is everyone else. We do not have gangs in Sterling! My hispanic neighbors and I laugh because everytime something goes wrong it's "the hispanics" it's the "gangs". I have lived here for 44 years and the county has let Sterling run down, not the hispanics....they need to stop using them as an excuse! Patrol the streets, set up a curfew, anyone out after 1:00 a.m take em off the streets, check their status, search em for drugs, guns, pull over cars speeding and racing around. I hear them late at night on Sterling Blvd. racing and speeding. Sterling is old and is the foudning community in Loudoun County, treat it that way!

I think that the law is too soft on these type of criminals. Wheather they are legal or illegal immigrants, if a 16 or 17 year old commits a crime like this, they should automatically be charged, processed, and punished like adults. I think that by the age of 14 we all know what is right or wrong. If they are illegal immigrants, then they shuld automatically be deported. It is these kind of people who give those of us who are here legally and working hard every day, a bad reputation.

Where to begin..to Sterlinglite and Sterlingsucks (posted comment names), perhaps you just fell here from Mars? Anyone who lives in Loudoun has a clue that we have gangs. To Cerog1 comment about the canvas. Perhaps before you call someone a lier and post you should consider that perhaps you were not at home when they came? Perhaps you could have called back, gone the the sheriff's dept and been helpful? To P5 who posted..if you have info that any of the shooters were illegal, please call the sheriff's dept. And to Gary: Police are doing their jobs even when you aren't aware. As for making legal front and tail lights on bikes...I'm assuming you think the criminals will comply? To Aguilucho-1 Having EMS charge for emergency responses will probably stop many from having symptoms of a possibly heart attack from calling one. Many can't afford the ride if the bill went to them.
TO ALL OF YOU POSTERS WHO ARE MENTIONED: I hope that you went to the September 23rd meeting given by the Loudoun County Board of Supervisers to be helpful and to voice your opinions. I'm a believer that when you give an opinion that should help a community that it is well thought out, suggested peacefully, and you are ready with a solution which means volunteering perhaps. Why complain unless each one of you are ready to find out the facts, act in your neighborhoods by forming a community watch, and working hand in hand with the local law inforcement.

Aguilucho_1: Your comment about charging them on the spot can only be enforced when it follows the law. The 3 shot recently were shot by a drive by. Who could have been charged "on the spot" when the shooters were not there. We also have a legal system that you can be a part of. If you do not like the law as it is written, you have the means to try to change the law. Instead of venting in anger, go to the Board of Supervisors or the local police and ask what you can do to help this situation. If most of the comments I've read are from Sterling residents, it's no wonder there is problems. Anger leads to violence. Peace leads to resolutions.

Um, Pat, it's only September 22 now, so there's no way ANYONE has attended the September 23 meeting of the Board of Supervisors.

LanceBabe: The past tense of the meeting was a typo. Glad you spotted it and I hope all disgruntled will attend. Thanks! Pat

My comment did not mean to charge them on the spot. My comment was to charge them when they are arrested and that way, send a message to those who are thinking to commit these kind of crimes. I do not knwo where I said anything about EMS and why Pat is referring to me about that comment.
