Valley golfers post another solid win

Loudoun Valley High School's golf team welcomed Chantilly, a formidable opponent to the Loudoun Golf and Country Club Sept. 16 for a non-district dual match in Purcellville.

Chantilly has already clinched the Concord District regular season title and finished second in the 2007 state tournament. The Chargers shot a solid 147 in the nine-hole match, but the Vikings shot even lower, producing a four-player total of 142 to claim victory.

Austin Kaseman, one of two seniors on Valley's squad with Kevin Rinek, made the most of his final regular season home match for the Vikings, shooting a 1-under par 34.

Valley sophomore Scott Davidson shot even par 35, while junior Brian Hickey (36) and junior Colin Wallace (37) also factored in the scoring.

The Vikings remained undefeated at home for the regular season and will face Battlefield at Dominion Valley Golf & Country Club in Haymarket Sept. 23 to determine the regular season champion in the Cedar Run District.
