Ashburn 4-year-old's run on reality show ends

Ashburn 4-year-old Kaitlyn Maher's stint on the NBC show “America's Got Talent” ended Sept. 18 when she failed to be voted through as one of the top five acts in the competition.

On Sept. 17, Kaitlyn sang “I'll Be There” by the Jackson 5. During the results show Sept. 18, she was called to the front of the stage along with opera singer Neal E. Boyd.

When Boyd was moved through to the next round, Kaitlyn gave him a hug and showed no tears as a montage of video clips highlighting her experience on the show played.

From the beginning, Kaitlyn -- the youngest competitor on the show -- was a fan favorite. Judges Piers Morgan, Sharon Osbourne and David Hasselhoff often talked about how much America loves her.

Kaitlyn auditioned for the show with the song “Somewhere Out There.” She moved through the next round with the song “When You Wish Upon a Star.” In the top 40, she sang “What a Wonderful World,” and in the top 20 she sang “Beauty and the Beast.”
