Weaver critical after hit-and-run

Former Stone Bridge pitcher Ty Weaver was struck in a hit-and-run collision with a vehicle early on the morning of Sept. 21 in Morgantown, W.Va. He is reportedly in critical condition at Ruby Memorial Hospital.
“It's a scary situation,” said Bulldog baseball coach Sam Plank, who has been in communication with the family.
Weaver was on a sidewalk along University Boulevard when he was struck. He sustained two collapsed lungs and a ruptured spleen, but no broken bones.
He is breathing and talking on his own, but has no memory of the incident.
Weaver was released from the hospital's intensive care unit Sept. 25, according to his father Tim.
"We're just very thankful that he's alive," Tim Weaver said from Morgantown.
No suspect is yet in custody for the hit-and-run, which is under police investigation.
As a Bulldog senior, Weaver went 8-1 with a 2.11 ERA to earn a scholarship to West Virginia University, where he is a freshman.
He will miss the remainder of the fall semester at WVU but intends to return to the Mountaineers for school and baseball in the spring, says his father.
