The Heritage Pride volleyball team is teaming up with Papa John’s, La Villa Roma and Loudoun Physicians for Women to raise money for Breast Cancer Research.

During the month of October, each time a varsity player earns a kill, each of these sponsors will donate $1 to the Susan G. Komen Fund to support Breast Cancer Research.

At each home game, students will place a pink K on the wall after each kill. The Pride volleyball program raised more than $900 last year and is aiming to raise more than $1,000 this year.

Bulldogs blitz McLean

Stone Bridge combined seven touchdowns with a safety in the first half to build a 51-0 lead by halftime of a Sept. 26 home football game against McLean. The Bulldogs won the contest, 51-13.

Daniel Allen had a spectacular game for Stone Bridge (5-0). The senior running back found the end zone on each of his rushing attempts in the game, netting 167 yards and four touchdowns on just four carries.

Senior quarterback Patrick Thompson connected with three receivers -- Nate Ingersoll, twin brother Zach Thompson and Michael Prince -- on touchdown passes.

42 and counting

Loudoun County defeated a pair of quality opponents – Cave Spring and Western Albemarle -- in the Cheers Sports Raider Classic Sept. 27 to extend its winning streak to 42 matches.

The Raiders volleyball team earned some revenge in netting a 3-1 victory against Cave Spring in the first match. Cave Spring is the last team to defeat County – in the 2006 Virginia AA championship.

County swept Western Albemarle. Juliane Hanna and Shaylin O'Connell paced the Raiders (14-0) with a combined 36 kills on the day.
