La Lou Bistro: Bringing the flavor to Leesburg

La Lou Bistro Restaurant and Lounge's owner Driss Lahlou may own five restaurants, but this one is his favorite.

"It's named after me," Lahlou said. "It's my baby."

The new La Lou Bistro offers a variety of cuisines in a low-key cafe setting in Leesburg on Market Street next to Tally Ho Theatre.

"We try to pick up all cuisines," Lahlou said.

The menu ranges from Mediterranean to French, featuring salads, pizzas, sandwiches, pasta and even mojito chicken kabobs. Prices range from $6 to $17. Brunch is served on weekends from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The bistro's atmosphere is warm and friendly. One wall is inset with couches, and the other with a fireplace, allowing customers to relax during their meals.

Lahlou opened the bistro on Mother's Day with co-owner Mohamed Touzani. Lahlou said the experience has been perfect so far.

Lahlou owns three restaurants in Washington, D.C., and one in Falls Church. He decided to open a new restaurant after one of his friends encouraged him to "bring the flavor to Leesburg."

The opening of La Lou comes at a time when many restaurants are closing their doors, but Lahlou feels secure.

"Since this isn't my first restaurant, I have others that could cover me," he said. "But I haven't needed them so far. We are doing very well."

Lahlou is looking forward to working in Leesburg.

"We work hard to make the Leesburg customer happy," he said. "We want them to come back and come back."
