Leesburg launches winter farmers market
The Leesburg Winter Farmers Market kicked off the 2009-2010 season Nov. 7 with more than 20 “producer-only” vendors, Bolivian folk music from AMA, a naming contest for a new pepper cheese, gardening tips from the Master Gardeners and wool pelts and skeins from the Loudoun Valley Sheep Producers. Happyfacekids was on hand raising money for families parenting children with Down syndrome.
Each Saturday, the market in the parking lot of the Virginia Village Shopping Center on Catoctin Circle will offer fresh produce and meats and locally created foods, everything from honey and pasta to salsa and candy. The selection will include beef, pork, goat, lamb, orchard produce, fresh greens, baked goods, cookies, honey, salsas, jams, dips, pasta and candy.
The Leesburg market welcomes shoppers who “Buy Fresh/Buy Local,” from 9 a.m. to noon every Saturday. Go to www.loudounfarmersmarkets.org.
