2009 Malone Foundation Award Winners
The winners of the 2009 Teri and Shari Malone awards were honored by the Loudoun County School Board Oct. 27.
The Teri and Shari Malone Foundation is dedicated to the memory of twins who died in 1989 at the age of 14 in an automobile accident.
They had just completed their eighth-grade year at Seneca Ridge Middle School and were to enter the freshman class of Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology in the fall. They were accomplished in the fields of art, computer science, dance, mathematics, music and science, as well as being straight-A students at Seneca Ridge.
Since 1991, the foundation has recognized students with exceptional talent chosen by the staffs of each Loudoun County middle school in the fields of art, mathematics, science and music. Students recognized for special talent in dance are selected by area schools of dance.
Each recipient receives a recognition plaque and $250 in scholarship assistance to further develop the recipient's skills.
