H1N1 flu vaccine clinic set for Nov. 21
The Loudoun County Health Department will have H1N1 vaccine for about 1,500 people at Smart's Mill Middle School, 850 N. King St. in Leesburg, on Saturday, Nov. 21, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., or until all the vaccine has been administered.
The vaccine will be offered on a walk-in basis free of charge and those desiring vaccination are encouraged to wear a short-sleeve shirt or top.
This clinic is intended only for people in the groups recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to receive the 2009 H1N1 influenza vaccine. These include:
•Pregnant women
•Household contacts and caregivers for children younger than 6 months of age
•Health-care and emergency medical services personnel
•All people from 6 months through 24 years of age
•Persons aged 25 through 64 years who have health conditions associated with higher risk of medical complications from influenza.
Additional clinics will be set up as soon as more vaccine shipments arrive. The most up-to-date information will be posted at www.loudoun.gov/flu.
