A 16-month-old boy is in critical condition after Loudoun County Sheriff's Office officials found the child unresponsive in a bathtub Monday, according to the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies responded around 12:20 p.m. to the 45000 block of Winding Branch Terrace in Sterling, where they found the boy in the tub. They were responding to a call of cardiac arrest.

The child was initially taken to Inova hospital in Lansdowne and then flown to Inova Fairfax, where he remains in critical condition.

An investigation into the incident is pending, according to an LCSO spokeswoman.
