Apparent drunken driver nearly strikes child in Lovettsville

A reckless driver nearly struck two parked cars and a child in the area of Route 287 and East Broad Way Drive in Lovettsviles around 6 p.m. on Wednesday, according to the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office.

LCSO deputies managed to locate the driver, Braden S. Jones, 22, of Lovettsville, in the 39000 block of Canterfield Court.

Jones was arrested and charged with driving under the influence. He was later released from the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center on a personal recognizance bond.

There is only one answer to this and that is to open up more breweries and bars.  If people didn’t have to travel so far to get their drunk on then they wouldn’t be driving as far and causing as many accident.  Let’s be real - being drunk is the Eastern Loudoun way of life and that’s not changing anytime soon.  All these children that see their parents getting hammered 6 or 7 days a week are going to grow up and do the same thing.  Alcohol is causing a crisis for our community yet their is no outcry even when murders and near murders like this happen.  This guy will be back on the road in a few months doing the same thing and then everybody will be surprised when he actually manages to run a pedestrian down or plow into a minivan full of kids.
