A fire in Ashburn on Oct. 13 injured two people and caused several thousand dollars in damage.
The fire occurred on the 43300 block of Wayside Circle. At approximately 6:20 p.m., the Loudoun County Emergency Communications Center received a call reporting the incident. Units were dispatched from Ashburn, Moorefield, Lansdowne and Leesburg; the Loudoun County Fire Marshal also went to the scene.
Officers located a small fire on the first floor of a single family home, which they were able to contain and extinguish.
One adult civilian was flown via Air Care 3 to Washington Hospital Center for injuries he suffered when trying to start a fire in the fireplace. Also, a firefighter was taken to Lansdowne Hospital for treatment for an injury he received during the incident.
The Loudoun County Fire Marshal's office ruled the fire, which resulted in approximately $30,000 in damage, to be accidental.
