Ashburn man arrested after attempted sexual assault

    Tchalim K. Lidawo

An Ashburn man was arrested Saturday after deputies said he attempted to sexually assault a woman when she was taking trash to a dumpster at an apartment complex on Dodge Terrace.

Tchalim K. Lidawo, 22, was identified and apprehended early Sunday morning. Loudoun County Sheriff's Office reports did not say what time the attempted assault occurred.

Lidawo fled during the attack after a passerby interrupted him. He is unknown to the victim, according to reports.

Deputies were able to apprehend Lidawo following a ground and aerial search. He was found inside an apartment with the Dodge Terrace complex. He was taken into custody without incident and is being held at the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center on no bond.

It's not known at this time if this incident is connected to past assaults in the Sterling area that occurred last month or in December and February.
