Ashburn man arrested for assault of juvenile

Seyed Vafaei
Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office officials announced Saturday that the office’s Special Victims Unit arrested an Ashburn man Friday night after he allegedly had inappropriate contact with a juvenile on Halloween.

Seyed Vafaei, 68, of Ashburn, was charged with assault and battery in connection to an Oct. 31 incident that occurred in the area of Tournament Parkway and Palmer Classic Parkway in Ashburn. The juvenile victim reported she was walking in the neighborhood with her friends when the suspect approached them.

According to the LCSO, Vafaei offered the victim candy and placed it in the victim’s bag. As the victim attempted to catch up with her friends, Vafaei grabbed the victim's hand and kissed her on the cheek. The victim pulled away from Vafaei and caught up to her friends. The incident was reported to the LCSO the following day.

The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office has since discovered possible additional encounters. Vafaei has been seen in the community riding a bicycle wearing goggles, according to reports.

Vafaei is currently being held at the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center on no bond.

Anyone with information regarding this case is asked to contact Detective C. Czekaj at 703-777-0475.
