In an emotionally charged presentation on the nationally televised show “Shark Tank,” Ashburn's Krista Woods sealed a deal for an investment in the future growth of her company, the popular athletic gear odor-repellent GloveStix.

On the show, after other Shark Tank panelists said they were not interested, former MLB state Alex Rodriguez and Lori Greiner, an inventor and entrepreneur, agreed to a $150,000 investment for a 17.5 percent stake in her company.

It has been a busy and exciting week for Woods -- a mom of three – after she received the Loudoun County Chamber of Commerce's award for Entrepreneur of the Year on Nov. 4, and the “Shark Tank” show that she taped over the summer aired on Sunday.

“I have thousands of emails, Facebook messages, texts and tweets and they are all so amazing,” Woods said. “I can't thank everyone enough for all the positive words and I have been welling up with tears.”

She created the products GloveStix and ShoeStix to kill bacteria and odor in athletic gear, shoes, boots, and skates. The company launched in 2015 and since then she has quit her former job to focus entirely on building the company

Woods is hoping and expecting sales will now grow exponentially following the Shark Tank deal. Prior to Sunday, she had sold 22,000 GloveStix since June 2015 and 2,000 ShoeStix, since they were launched in June 2017. The company has also sold 14,700 refill sticks.

Woods' business was given a kickstart when she appeared on the “Today Show's” Next Big Thing contest in the spring of 2016, followed by an appearance on QVC.

“It is crazy to work so hard to get on 'Shark Tank' and have had to keep it a secret for so long. I have been going through this since April and I am just so happy I can now shout it out! I did it!” Woods said.
