Bras. They are essential, part of the uniform worn for the job of “being a woman.”

However, women often regard the prospect of shopping for a new bra with a sense of dread. When a new bra needs to be found, many must psyche themselves up for the shopping mall dressing rooms with bad lighting and a hundred different bra styles, most of which won’t fit properly. And that is just your average bra wearer. Nursing mothers or women who have undergone mastectomy surgery for breast cancer can be completely at sea looking for a bra or swimsuit that fits their needs.

“Here at Best Rack Around we make it private and more fun, and we carry bra cup sizes A to M. Because everyone needs a bra. It’s the thing we put on every day that makes our clothes right,” says Nannette Parsons, owner of Leesburg's Best Rack Around and guru of all things underpinnings.

The shop is discerning in the brands they carry, with quality and size range top priorities, and it is this care and attention to detail that led the shop to be selected by lingerie brand Anita to host an event Saturday for the brand’s 130th anniversary by promoting a body positive campaign called Movement 130.

Parsons became close with the Anita brand because she trained with an Anita rep for mastectomy fittings, which are extensive and cover pre-surgical, post surgical, prosthesis, and bathing suit fittings.

“I love a company like Anita,” says Parsons. “They do my mastectomy and my prosthesis bras, comfort bras, sports bras, their Rosa Faia line which is beautiful. They do nursing bras. They’re family owned, and their brand is really focused on family and community and giving back, which is so great.”

“It’s going to be a big party all day,” Parsons told the Times-Mirror about the Movement 130 event scheduled for Saturday. Customers of all ages, sizes, and backgrounds can gather at the shop and meet with women who are already members with Anita, have some refreshments, and then sign up to join the campaign.

When they sign up to participate in Anita’s campaign, women can share their story, which may then be featured on the Movement 130 website and on social media. Campaign membership also includes complimentary bras and swimwear, and entry to a grand prize merchandise giveaway.

Best Rack Around recently moved to a larger storefront with display windows—something they didn’t have at their first location which was on an upper floor—on Harrison Street. The shop has four fitting rooms, one of which is larger with a curved wall to easily accommodate a wheelchair. A curtain divides the shop floor from the dressing room area, and each dressing room has a velvety curtain of its own.

The shop floor has a few racks of bras on display, along with a couple swimsuits, pajama sets and a handful of soft, slinky nighties and robes. It’s not overwhelmingly stacked with skivvies. Almost all of the stock lives across from the dressing rooms in what looks like a massive walk-in closet with floor-to-ceiling underthings. And Parsons and her team know exactly where everything is in there.

Parsons and her team care about their customers and their comfort when they are fitted for a bra, and they want to make it so everyone has a little girlish fun while they’re at it. Because everyone needs a bra, and as Parsons and her team put it, “there is a bra for everyone.”

The Movement 130 campaign event at Best Rack Around will be on April 29 from 12-4 p.m. at 454 Madison Trade Plaza SE, Leesburg. Due to limited space, women are strongly encouraged to RSV P for the event at .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).
