California fugitive found living at Leisure World

Carolyn Macy

A California woman who escaped custody in Los Angeles more than 12 years ago was found Oct. 26 in Loudoun County.

Carolyn Macy, 67, was found living at Leisure World in Lansdowne after authorities received information about her whereabouts, according Liz Mills, spokesperson for the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office.

Loudoun County deputies took Macy into custody without incident.

She’s being held without bond at the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center on a felony extradition warrant.

Macy was sent to state prison in Santa Clara County, Calif. on May 25, 1999, for a three-year sentence on fraud and identity theft charges. She escaped custody in February 2000 after she was transferred to another facility.

This information that led authorities to Macy was obtained from the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, as well as from detectives with the Fairfax County Sheriff’s Office assigned to the U.S. Marshal’s Service Fugitive Task Force.
