Del. LaRock claims a third term in 33rd District

Incumbent state Del. Dave LaRock (R) once again walked away the winner of the Republican-leaning 33rd District, claiming a third term in the House of Delegates by beating political newcomer Tia Walbridge of Round Hill.

LaRock won with 54.7 percent of the vote to Walbridge's 45 percent, according to the Virginia Department of Elections.

The 33rd District covers western Loudoun County and portions of Frederick and Clarke counties.

LaRock is among the most conservative members of the House of Delegates, touting low taxes and limited government and opposing same-sex marriage and Medicaid expansion.

The Republican won his 2015 contest by 23 percent of the vote over Democrat Chuck Hedges. President Donald Trump carried the western Loudoun district by 16 points over Hillary Clinton last November.

In the run-up to the election, LaRock was a no-show to several local House of Delegates forums due to what his campaign said were scheduling conflicts.

Walbridge, a farmer and small business owner, defeated longtime investment banker Mavis Taintor in the House of Delegates District primary in June, winning endorsements from Loudoun County Board of Supervisors Chairwoman Phyllis Randall (D-At Large) and State Sen. Jennifer Wexton (D-33rd).

“we will bring that side of Loudoun into the 21st Century”

And that’s what liberals think of Western Loudoun.

Congrats to LaRock on another double digit victory.

As it is if Randall and Wexton ever stepped away from the endorse the democrat at every chance their endorsement might ring a little louder. When Greason. Lemunyon and Minchew were being defeated LaRock prevails in the most anti-republican election ever. Tells you he works and his constituents see through the rubbish speak by the democrat at all cost crowd. If we are lucky LaRock will challenge and destroy Randall in 2019.

Good job Tia, a few more new housing developments and a lot of disinfectant and we will bring that side of Loudoun into the 21st Century.  Keep chopping the wood.

These goofballs who voted for LaRock still have to look at themselves in the mirror and utter…really? Really? I voted for this lame excuse for an elected official..shame on you! He will have tough time…next up Comstock!!

It’s rude but I do have to agree with the “...long and lonely couple of years.”  Maybe he can use the taxpayer-funded office allowance that he just pockets to buy a book to read during the quiet time…

I truly wish Joe May was still representing this district. Although we often disagreed, he was always a supporter of all constituents

Viva LaRock!

The Orange headed chihuahua won this district by 15 points. This was always going to be an insurmountable lift.

Having Dave remain in the House is almost as sweet as him losing his seat. He’s going to be a local caucus of one and will have no one to commiserate with when his hateful legislation doesn’t make it to the floor.

Take a knee Dave- you’re in for a long and lonely couple of years.
