Delaney wins 67th District Democratic primary

Karrie Delaney handily defeated two challengers in Tuesday's Democratic primary for the House of Delegates 67th District seat.

Delaney, of Chantilly, secured 65 percent of the vote to Hannah Risheq's 23 percent and John Carey's 12 percent.

Delaney will square off against incumbent Republican Jim LeMunyon in the eastern Fairfax-focused 67th District.

The Democratic nominee runs her own small consulting firm and was formerly communications director for Shared Hope International, a nonprofit dedicated to ending sex trafficking.

LeMunyon did not have a challenger in 2015, and he won his 2013 contest by 9 percent of the vote.
