An Ashburn man was charged with driving under the influence Nov. 3 after he crashed his car into a deputy's cruiser.
At approximately 1:25 a.m., two Loudoun County Sheriff's Office cruisers were on a traffic stop on Route 28/Church Road in Sterling. One car was on the shoulder of the road, and another was in the travel lane; both cars had their lights on.
Deputies saw a vehicle driving at high speeds on the shoulder of the road; the car crashed into the rear of one cruiser, pushing it into the other car. Both deputies were able to leap away from the accident to safety and suffered no injuries.
Eric S. Stibler, 26, was driving the vehicle. Stibler was treated for minor injuries at the Inova Loudoun Hospital before being booked for DUI at the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center. He has since been released.
