EMILY’s List has an eye on local Virginia House seats

EMILY's List, the powerhouse political action committee focused on electing pro-choice Democratic women, will unveil a round of endorsements in Virginia House of Delegates races today, and three of the four are running to represent a Loudoun constituency.

Incumbent state Del. Kathleeen Murphy in the 34th District and second-time candidates Jennifer Boysko and Elizabeth Miller will be among the four endorsements announced.

Boysko is looking to succeed long-time Del. Tom Rust (R-86th), who is retiring, while Miller is taking on three-term incumbent Republican Tag Greason in the 32nd District. Prominent business leader Danny Vargas is running for Republicans in the 86th.

Both Boysko, a former aide to Fairfax Supervisor John Foust, and Miller, a computer programmer and activist, are active with NARAL Pro-Choice Virginia.

In a prepared statement, Muthoni Wambu Kraal of EMILY's List noted, “The stakes couldn’t be higher for Virginia women and families in 2015, which is why EMILY’s List is zeroing in on the House of Delegates races and is committed to electing more pro-choice Democratic women who will stand up for progressive values in the commonwealth.”

The fourth endorsement from Emily's List is Shelly Simonds in the 94th House District in Newport News.

Virginia is the first state EMILY’s List is targeting on the state and local level for the 2015 election cycle. In 2014, EMILY's List spent nearly $45 million for its preferred candidates, according to OpenSecrets.org.

An EMILY's List spokeswoman would not say whether the endorsements come with an immediate and direct financial contribution to the campaigns.

David can I get your personal e-mail?
Isn’t today what these women would consider the blackest of all? The butcher and their hero Gonsell was convicted on this day 3 years ago, that is worth celebrating. As hard as Emily and the democrats try gender is not a political office qualification. Get that weak stuff out of Loudoun.

It’s not bad enough that we kill babies, these folks want to kill even more.  Vile and disgusting.
