On Oct. 2, fire and rescue units from Sterling Park, Lansdowne, Cascades, Ashburn and Fairfax County responded to a structure fire at 22368 Stablehouse Drive in Sterling. Units arriving located smoke and fire in the kitchen and were able to extinguish the fire. The fire, which cause around $1,000 in damages, was caused by unattended food on a stove. As units were responding to the fire, the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors were deciding to declare October as Fire Prevention Month. The theme for Fire Prevention Month this year is "Prevent Kitchen Fires."
