Giant, Rotary Club in Ashburn launch backpack and school supply drive

The Giant and Rotary Club of Ashburn are setting out to support 1,000 children in Loudoun and Fairfax counties whose families lack the financial resources to provide their children with necessary basic school supplies. The annual campaign will be held from July 23 through Aug. 6 this year, during which time area Giants will display posters with a list of needed items and bins to collect the purchased supplies.

The Ashburn Rotary Club is seeking volunteers to assemble backpacks and to distribute flyers at area Giant stores, emphasizing that this is a great volunteer opportunity for families with children.

"It teaches children that they can make a difference, and that making a difference begins at home with neighbors helping neighbors," organizers say.

Alex, you can always visit our club and see what volunteer opportunities we have going on.  We meet at 1757 Golf Club every Thursday at noon!

I wish the miniature rotary club did more for people.  I knew I joined the wrong one.
