Hit-and-run driver assaults Loudoun deputy

Loudoun County Sheriff's deputies responded to the area of Exchange Street and Russel Branch Parkway in Ashburn shortly before 7 p.m. Dec. 22 for a reported hit and run crash.

Deputies found the driver in a nearby home. As they attempted to take the subject into custody, he resisted arrest and struck a deputy with his leg, LCSO officials said.

The driver, Paul C. Croarkin, 65, of Ashburn was charged with DWI, obstruction of justice, assault and battery on law enforcement and refusal of a breath test. He was released from the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center on a personal recognizance bond.

Nice bonding process in this county!  An individual is drunk, obstructs justice, assaults law enforcement and refuses to take a test but is released on a personal recognizance bond. He was a danger to law enforcement and should be considered a danger to the general public.
