Leesburg man charged with father’s murder previously arrested for stabbing dog

Michael F. Bowles is alleged to have killed his father in Lucketts in late July.
Details are emerging of the troubled past of a Leesburg man charged last week with murdering his father.

The body of 52-year-old Mario Bowles was discovered inside his Lucketts home following a house fire at end of July.

His son, Michael F. Bowles, 20, has been charged with first degree murder and is in custody in connection with the fatal shooting of his father, according to the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office.

Michael F. Bowles has had numerous run-ins with the law over the years. On Oct. 6 2014, the younger Bowles, then 18, was arrested on a charge of animal cruelty. According to Loudoun County Animal Services, he was charged with stabbing an American bulldog owned by the Bowles family.

Loudoun County Animal Services said it conducted an investigation into a complaint related to the stabbing of the dog. It was found that the dog sustained a single stab wound to the neck area.

Court records show Michael Bowles appeared before Loudoun General District Court, where he was found guilty, on Sept. 16, 2015. He was sentenced to 12 months with 10 months suspended of time.

Michael F. Bowles also has a string of traffic and driving-related offenses listed on the General District Court's records system.

In last month's incident, fire crews were dispatched to Mario Bowles' home in the area of Bald Hill Road and Steed Hill Lane near Lucketts after a fire was discovered shortly after 5 p.m. on July 25.

On July 26, officials were able to access and search through what remained of the home. At approximately 1 p.m., authorities discovered a body inside the residence.

The victim was positively identified as Mario M. Bowles by the Office of the Medical Examiner on July 31.

The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office is conducting the homicide investigation in cooperation with the arson investigation being completed by the Loudoun County Fire Marshal’s Office.

The Bowles family has requested contributions in the deceased's name be made to National Alliance on Mental Illness at http://www.ifundraise.nami.org and Lucketts Volunteer Fire Department, 42367 Lucketts Rd, Leesburg, 20176.

Always a nutty white kid that goes and murders the closest people and animal in some twisted way…no surprise here, shame

Super sad.  Should be a candidate for execution.

How was this person able to stab a dog and not be in jail for felony animal cruelty.  The maximum sentence is 5 years and would have saved his Dad’s life.
