Leesburg man injured after gun accidentally fires

A Leesburg man was injured New Year’s Day when his firearm accidentally fired.

The man, 46, was demonstrating the weapon to a relative about 1:24 p.m. inside a home in the 13500 block of Village Green Drive when the firearm discharged, shooting him in the hand, according to Liz Mills, spokesperson for the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office.

The man was taken to the Lansdowne campus of Inova Loudoun Hospital for treatment.

Likely this fool was drunk. The guy who played for Chicago was drunk and put a gun he thought unloaded to his head and pulled the trigger. Seeing a theme here?

Drunk plus guns is as stupid as drunk plus driving a vehicle.

Don’t you love how all gun people think that they are all special forces and all would stop shootings from happening “if only they were there”, when in reality, many cant even not shoot themselves.

According to a bio I read on Randy Kath, lead guitarist of Chicago back in the 1970’s - he was fooling around with a gun and accidentally shot himself; one of the greatest guitarists ever, died of stupidity.  I guess there will always be a slice of the population that just doesn’t get it.  As Ronnie Van Zant once sang,  “handguns were made for killing - ain’t no good for nothing else”.  Respect that and there won’t be accidents like this.

Obviously he failed his gun safety course….take the gun away until he can pass.

1. don’t demonstrate loaded guns. 2. Always keep the gun pointed in a SAFE direction. 3. ALWAYS keep your finger off the trigger until ready to shoot… so.. how did this happen again?
