Local sommelier launches wine delivery service

Whitney Berry is a certified sommelier who launched Bottlelegger.com.
A local wine expert has launched a wine delivery service in Loudoun and surrounding counties.

Bottlelegger.com, a regional wine delivery service, recently announced free local delivery on orders to Loudoun, Arlington, Clarke, Fauquier, Fairfax, Frederick, Prince William and Warren counties for all wines sold on the website no minimum bottle count.

A play on “bootlegger,” Bottlelegger is the brain child of Whitney Berry, a certified sommelier and former manager at The Wine Kitchen in Leesburg.

“Bottlelegger is happy to offer free shipping on wine in Northern Virginia, and is the first of its kind to do so,” Berry, who lives in Winchester, told the Times-Mirror. “A certified sommelier wine professional always delivers wine to people's homes, so if they have any specific questions about their purchased wines or wine in general they can ask at that time."

Deliveries are made every Tuesday and Thursday, Berry said, and customers can request a specific time for the delivery. If that day does not work, Bottlelegger can reschedule to deliver at a later date.

Berry has spent the past few years traveling and tasting wine in Spain, Italy, and Greece. Her cultivated tastes now influence her small, frequently changing inventory on Bottlelegger.com. There are currently two sparkling wines, two white wines, two rosés, and five reds to choose from, and a handful of the wines are priced at under $20. All wines are sold via the website. Shoppers can also browse by theme: Berry has curated a winter and Valentine's Day selection, movies and TV selection, and "Bottlelegger's top picks."

“The Bottlelegger space isn't a store,” Berry explained. “but you can browse the online wine store and we plan to have community events.”

To shop Berry’s selection, visit http://www.Bottlelegger.com. Shoppers can also fill out a form on the website for a beverage consultation.
