Loudoun Sheriff’s Office investigating shooting in Sterling, suspects at large

The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a Monday-night shooting outside a home in the Sugarland Run community.

Around 10 p.m., deputies responded to a residence in the 100 block of S. Midland Avenue in Sterling, where an adult male was suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg.

Witnesses reported that two unknown male suspects approached the victim and a verbal altercation ensued. Both suspects brandished firearms and one on the suspects shot the victim. The suspects then fled the scene.

The victim was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Both suspects are described as black males wearing dark clothing and bandannas over their faces at the time of the incident.

@ Tim in Sterling, I also reside in Sterling, let’s be honest, we have had a problem for a long time and it’s not getting better.

I’m offended by your characterization of Sugarland Run, and by inference, the people who live there.  I’ve lived in Sugarland for a number of years.  This is a great place to live with good community events, lots of nature and walking trails, and good people.  While the areas that you mention (cascades, Countryside, etc.) might have wealthier people, it doesn’t mean the people are better.  I’m sure you have drug dealers, prostitutes, people who abuse their spouses, etc.  Please don’t denigrate one area of Sterling over the others.  We’re all residents of the same “town”.

To truckrider,

Thanks for reading. We post the locations as provided by the Sheriff’s Office. If the LCSO report says Sterling—for this or any other incident—that’s what we list. We have to go by address and towns/cities listed by address.

I stand corrected. The article must have been updated right before I refreshed the page and sent in my comment’s.

Thank you for including that it was in the Sugarland Run community. Gives proper credit where due!

While it is technically Sterling by zip code. Can we call this area what it is. Sugarland!!! No hard facts, but as long as I have lived here(all of my life). It seems like more crime happens around the Sterling area than in. Always the bad news reported as Sterling. However the good stories are reported as the area within(ie:Cascades,Country side,Broad Run Farms)You know the classier neighborhood’s. And good stories actually in Sterling/Sterling Park go unreported.
