Man loses life in Purcellville crash

An adult man lost his life in a crash Tuesday in Purcellville.

Around 9:42 p.m. Tuesday, the driver of a 2006 Volkswagen Jetta was traveling north on Route 690 when he attempted to pass a 2010 Toyota Tundra. At some point during the driver’s attempt to pass, the driver lost control of the Jetta and struck a fence and a tree, Loudoun County Sheriff's Office officials said.

The driver, who has not been identified pending notification of next of kin, lost his life at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation.

I saw the damaged fence.  It was south of Purcellville and there is no passing anywhere legally permitted from Purcellville to Philomont, all double yellow lines.  That said, the morning after that wreck I was passed by a big sedan crossing the double yellow at a high speed. That happens to me a lot and I am not daddling, I at least go the speed limit.

which part of 690. cannot think of a portion that has really safe place to pass..and at night-eek.
