An Alexandria man was stopped by TSA agents at Dulles Airport on Sept. 9 after he tried to bring a loaded gun onto a plane.
TSA agents spotted the 9mm Beretta in the man's carry-on bag using the X-ray machines at a security checkpoint. The gun was loaded with nine rounds of ammunition. TSA notified Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority police, who cited the man on a local weapons charge. The traveler was originally scheduled to fly to Paris.
Passengers are not permitted to fly with guns either on their person or in carry-ons. Guns may be placed in checked baggage, but they must be declared, unloaded, packed in a hard-side case and locked. Full information on traveling with guns is available online at the TSA's website, http://www.tsa.gov
