Man taken into emergency custody from Kenneth Culbert Elementary

Shortly before noon Tuesday, the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office received call from school personnel at Kenneth W. Culbert Elementary School in Hamilton to check the well-being of a man visiting the school.

The school received a third-party call about a man who was visiting a child at the school. The caller was concerned for the well-being of the man. LCSO deputies responded to the school, and the man was taken into custody on an emergency custody order and was transported to a local hospital for a mental health evaluation, LCSO officials said.

LCSO officials said there was no indication of danger to students or staff.

Kenneth Culbert parents received a message from Principal Monica Kissel informing them of the incident. Kissel said in her note that LCSO removed the man from the school campus in a discreet manner, and students were not aware of police activity.

"To repeat, at no time was school safety compromised nor was there any danger to students or staff. As principal, safety is and will always remain, my top priority," Kissel's message read.
