Manassas man charged with involuntary manslaughter, DUI in fatal crash

An Aldie man died Sunday after he was hit by a driver while walking along Loudoun County Parkway near Dulles West Boulevard, according to the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office.

The crash happened around 7:39 a.m., and the preliminary investigation shows Muhammad S. Khalid, 66, of Aldie, was walking southbound on Loudoun County Parkway when he was hit by a driver of a southbound vehicle, LCSO officials said.

Khalid died at the scene. The driver remained on scene, and a witness called 911.

LCSO deputies identified the driver as Opoku Atuahene, 38, of Manassas. Atuahene was arrested and charged with involuntary manslaughter and driving under the influence.

He is being held at the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center pending a bond review.
