Middleburg Academy teacher to make Jeopardy appearance

Eduardo Sevilla
A Middleburg Academy teacher will appear on Jeopardy next week. Math teacher Educardo Sevilla will compete in the Jeopardy Teachers Tournament May 9.

Middleburg Academy will be hosting a viewing party during which students, faculty, friends and family will join Sevilla to watch his taped appearance on the show.

The Jeopardy Teachers Tournament is presented by the Farmers Insurance Thank America’s Teachers program.

Sevilla received a $2,500 educational grant that will be presented at the event by Thomas Knox on behalf of the insurance group’s Thank America’s Teachers program. Farmers Insurance will award all 15 Teachers Tournament contestants a $2,500 educational grant to fund classroom projects, regardless of where they placed in the tournament.

Sevilla said he plans to use the grant to support his school’s overall S.T.E.A.M. initiative, with new weights and measuring systems, a high accuracy weighing scale for AP level chemistry, multiple medium accuracy scales for science classes, and a variety of other equipment, according to a news release.

The viewing party will begin at 7 p.m. at Middleburg Academy, 35321 Notre Dame Lane. The show starts at 7:30 p.m.

When should we look for you on Jeopardy?
