Miles for Mental Health event planned for October

Friends of Loudoun Mental Health is planning a special event to raise funds and draw attention to their homelessness prevention program. The Miles for Mental Health event is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 6 at Purcellville’s Franklin Park and includes a 10K run and a 5K walk.

The 10K run at Franklin Park is USATF-certified cross country course and will be electronically timed. The certified run will begin at 8 a.m., with registration beginning at 7 a.m.

The 5K run is designed for those looking for an easier walk. It is open to both speed walkers and strollers. Scheduled for later in the day, registration will begin at noon with the walk beginning at 1 p.m.

The Friends of Loudoun Mental Health is a volunteer-based nonprofit and was founded in 1955. Its homelessness prevention program, A Place to Call Home, works with residents disabled by mental illness. It is administered through a partnership with Loudoun County Supported Living Services.

There is no participation fee for this event, but participants are encouraged to collect pledges.
